Automating Automotive Part Segregation With Computer Vision and Conveyor-Based Routing
A conveyor-based computer vision segregation system using cameras at three locations to classify parts and route them toward accepted, rework, or rejected gates.

Operating problem
In automotive manufacturing, part segregation is a critical quality step. Parts need to be identified, inspected, classified, and routed quickly without slowing down production flow. Manual segregation can work at small scale, but as volumes increase it becomes harder to maintain speed, consistency, and traceability across every part moving through the line.
What Solutyics designed
Solutyics designed a computer vision based segregation system where parts move over a conveyor belt and are inspected through cameras placed at three different locations. These camera positions allow the system to capture multiple views of each part as it passes through the inspection zone. The captured images are processed by a trained model that classifies each part according to the required quality category.
Based on the model’s classification, the system directs the part toward the relevant gate. Parts identified as okay can continue through the accepted route, parts needing rework are diverted for correction, and rejected parts are separated for review or disposal. This creates a faster and more disciplined segregation process, supported by both visual intelligence and physical routing.
The system helps manufacturers reduce dependence on repetitive manual sorting, improve classification consistency, and maintain a clearer record of quality decisions. Over time, the captured data can also support defect analysis, process improvement, and better understanding of where quality issues are originating.
Impact
Operational clarity without losing the realities of the workflow
The impact is a stronger quality operation where inspection is not only faster, but also more consistent, traceable, and integrated with the actual movement of parts on the production line.
